I have felt so bad for all of my wonderful couples who have had to keep postponing and changing their plans for the happiest day of their life. The uncertainty of if/when/where, who can come, will it be safe has been horrible.
I want to say a huge thank you to the understanding of couples that have moved dates that we were unable to fulfil and wish them the best for an incredible day.
We have had to alter styles, sizes, portions and venues for so many people, but hopefully now we can move forwards. We are coming back stronger…
We are still sticking to the covid restrictions that we have in place at Little Millie's. If anyone still feels unsafe coming to us for a consultation, then we have mastered ZOOM and know how to unmute ourselves now whilst in the meeting. On a serious note, we want everyone to feel safe and secure. We can post taster cakes and offer online consultations to help mitigate any worries.

I came up with my idea for this competition entry weeks and weeks ago and so far all I have to show is a decorated board! As per usual I have taken on far too many orders prior to this competition and so once again the competition cake will be last minute.com.  To top it all off I have man flu... Yes this is definitely man flu as It is far worse than the average cold :(

At the weekend we celebrated my birthday and Mother's Day.  Although plans were ruined slightly due to the dreaded man flu, I was able to enjoy some of the amazing cake lovingly made by by husband and 2 year old daughter.



Very impressive for amateurs I think u'll agree? It's nice to see some of the cake decorating skills are being picked up!

So in the run up to cake international things could be very quiet from the little Millie's kitchens.  Not only do I have my competition piece to start/finish but I also have a beautiful wedding cupcake tower to create as well as numerous novelty cakes.  Looks light I have many late nights ahead…

You can read it here , Then I got a Diploma in Sugar Flowers. I made two wedding cakes, 5 Novelty cakes and have just finished a day’s photoshoot with the lovely crew from Norfolk Brides where I had to make the most incredible Rustic Wedding Cake… Unfortunately I cannot give you any of the finished pictures until the magazine is published, but there is a picture below of it in bits in the fridge :) Now to get ready for an equally busy week… Lots of orders and of course it’s the Town & Country Fair this weekend where you will find us at the Wedding Marquee, come and say hi… xx

After a few glasses of wine my husband persuaded me to enter a cake into the next cake international show. It took about 4 weeks to come up with an original idea, cartoon characters playing roulette, including Stewie Griffin as croupier, Brian Griffin eyeing up Miss Piggy who’s watching Kermit gamble his chips… Mickey Mouse is pushing in the deeds to Disney World as Minnie Mouse comforts him, whilst Homer has passed out from drinking too much Duff and Lisa Simpson is reading roulette for dummies…. I did leave it a bit late and created the whole thing in just 4 days as i had other orders that had to take priority (most people spend 3 weeks plus designing and creating their cake).

The morning of the show was an early one.. i had to leave the house at 5am in order to get to London in time from Norwich. Due to traffic and having to drive extra carefully to protect my cake, i only just got there in time and was pretty stressed by the time i arrived!

When i finally arrived i only had a small amount of repair work to do (Mickey’s ear had fallen off and Brian had dropped his martini glass... because his arm had fallen off!). Before dropping my cake off i would have been really pleased if the judges had of awarded me a merit... after seeing some of the other cakes i realised I would be very lucky to achieve this! The standard of the cakes were absolutely amazing, the best i have ever seen at cake international! I have included some pictures of some of the cakes that stood out to me below...


These cakes stood out to me for their incredible attention to detail and impeccable standard of workmanship, not to mention the hours involved in creating these masterpieces.

The outstanding mulberry handbag cake that won best in show was one of my favourites (i wouldn’t have believed it was a cake unless i’d have seen it cut open) if you created this cake please tell me how many hours of work this took?! I wouldn’t have been at all surprised to have seen any of the other cakes above to win best in show or in fact many of the other amazing cakes that were entered into the competition as there was so much talent displayed at this show!

As for me i am overwhelmed at receiving a BRONZE for my cake... One of the biggest cake competitions in the world and i was up there with the best! I can’t wait for the next show where i shall be aiming for a silver award... best start thinking of ideas!

rather than working miles away, hence Little Millie’s cupcakes was born….
Things have been really busy lately, designing Novelty Cupcakes including muppets, spongebob, thomas, angry birds, new born baby cupcakes… alongside that we are now getting ready for the wedding fair at Dunston Hall in two weeks so I have hundreds of handmade sugar craft roses to design! I am loving it though.
We are a full on family business aiming at making weddings easier for people, they can call us and book Cupcakes, favours, sweetie buffet, Photographer, Videographer, make-up, nails, lashes and Disco all in one go saving a small fortune!!
I will be updating this blog on a weekly basis keeping you up to date on the Little Millie’s Antics and posting photos.
I am looking for new flavour ideas for my cupcakes… what random flavours can you think of?
til next week (when I’ll think of something exciting to write)
